Upon graduation from high school, Peter followed his father’s lead and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He completed his obligation in 1977.   Soon after, Peter began attending  college on the GI Bill and later married.  He assisted his wife in raising two beautiful daughters, Melissa and Megan.  Peter graduated from Humboldt State University with a B.A. in Geology in 1982 and practiced as a private industry and government geologist.   In 1994, Peter left civil service and started a consulting business that provided professional services to the mining and heavy civil construction industries.

In 1998, Peter decided to make a career change and began the study of law while working full time as a heavy civil construction  project manager.   Peter attended night school and worked part time as a paid Law Clerk in the Construction Practice Group of Gordon & Rees, LP, a San Francisco based law firm.  He graduated with a JD from the Golden Gate University School of Law in May, 2002 and became licensed in the State of Texas in November, 2002.  Ever the over achiever, he studied for and passed the California bar exam in February, 2003, while enrolled in a graduate program.    Peter also became licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia in October of 2003, to better serve his clients in tax controversy matters.     Peter received a Master of  Laws in Taxation degree from the Golden Gate University School of Law in December of 2003.

Peter and his wife, Dr. Stasha Gominak, a Baylor University Medical School graduate and practicing neurologist (the really smart one of the family), moved from Campbell, California to Tyler, Texas in December, 2003 in pursuit of an environment with less people pressure and traffic.    Peter began practicing law from the parlor of his home and now practices from the historic Littlejohn house which is located in the Azalea Historic District.

Peter is a member of the Smith County Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas Tax Section and the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section.   He is a member of the State Bar of California and District of Columbia Tax Sections.  Peter was admitted to practice in Texas in 2002 and in California and the District of Columbia in 2003.  He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit; U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the Northern District of California, and the United States Tax Court.  Peter is admitted to practice in the state courts of California and Texas and all courts in the District of Columbia.   He is authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service in accordance with the Circular 230 regulations.  Peter is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, which is an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in Texas.

Community service is an important aspect of Peter’s life.  He’s a Member of the Board of Directors for Historic Tyler, Inc., a past Member of Board of Directors for the Smith County Children’s Services Foundation, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Smith County Bar Foundation.  Peter contributes many hours of pro bono legal services annually to clients referred by the Lone Star Legal Aid Service.

While not serving clients or the community, Peter and Stasha enjoy renovating their 1874 historic Tyler home or traveling to their vacation home in Mexico. They cherish quiet time spent with one another, their pets, family and friends.  Peter and Stasha’s grandson, Nathaniel, who they loving refer to as their “Little Anti-Depressant” lives with his mother  Melissa and father Sergio in Ontario, California.  Peter’s daughter Megan lives in Berlin, Germany, with her husband, Kim, who designed this website.

It is as if the ordinary language we use every day has a hidden set of signals, a kind of secret code.
